Josie turned. She was completely alone. A smile curved her lips as she returned to earth.

Chris could barely think past the orange haze of fury clouding his brain. The second Halloran recited his pre-murder ritual, everything clicked into place in Christian's mind.
Dickey.
The name of the thug who'd killed his parents. Dickeyshort for Richard, just as Rich was short for Richard. Richard Halloran. The man who stood before him with a gun pointed at the head of the woman Christian loved. History did repeat itself. But this time there would be a different ending to the story.
"Y-y-you killed Christian's parents?" D.J. asked, her words muffled as she pressed the back of her hand to her mouth. Her fingers shook. She stared at her ex-husband as though she meant to be sick all over his silk suit. Chris kind of hoped D.J. did just that. She'd give him a second's distraction, which would be all he'd need.
"Bingo, D.J. Give the girl a cigar." Rich kept his gaze on Chris, despite addressing his comments to D.J. The two men stared into each other's eyes. They understood each other. One of them would die before this ended. But Rich didn't know one thingChris had too much to live for now to let anything or anyone stand in his way.
A deep calm settled over Chris and his head cleared. He would bide his time and make his move at the first opportunity.
"Th-this is too weird." D.J.'s teeth chattered with
